2017 FORD F150 RAPTOR EXHAUST VIDEO:
Ever since Ford announced the 2017 Raptor was dropping its V8 in favor of a turbocharged V6, people have been complaining that the voice doesn’t match the face. The Raptor certainly has the appearance and performance of a super-truck, but the exhaust note left many people wanting more.
As companies rushed to fill their shelves with aftermarket exhausts, the problem didn’t appear to be addressed. Raptor owners continued to complain, and some even suggested, “You can’t make the Raptor sound good!”
Fortunately, the Sound of Power engineers at BORLA took a more measured approach. They spent months developing a specific exhaust solution for the 2017 Ford F150 Raptor, which would both boost power and vastly improve the sound. And it does this without introducing the dreaded drone that many “open pipes” can cause.
As with every BORLA exhaust system, the team creates countless prototypes, experimenting with muffler shape and internal construction, as well as pipe diameter and routing before they find the perfect solution. The BORLA team includes experienced sound engineers, whose job is to ensure the vehicle sounds as good as it looks.
The first BORLA Ford Raptor exhausts systems are now available and the company has created a video to demonstrate to Raptor owners that their prayers have been answered.
The BORLA exhaust currently consists of a Mid-Section with X-Pipe and either S-Type or patented ATAK® mufflers. The two muffler options give Raptor owners the ability to choose between exhaust noise levels. However, both are restrained at idle and guarantee no drone. It’s when the drive gets into the throttle that the exhaust comes alive.
As with all BORLA exhaust products, the Raptor Mid-Section is constructed from T-304 stainless steel and comes with the company’s Million Mile Warranty.
The BORLA Mid-Section is designed to easily mate to the stock Ford tailpipes. The company knew its priority was to offer owners a solution to the sound problems, and the appearance will not be forgotten. The team is working on new tailpipes for the 2017 Ford Raptor, which will be available soon. As part of a modular BORLA design, the tailpipes can be easily swapped for the factory parts. So any customers buying the Mid-Section now can upgrade to the tailpipes once the new parts are available.
The BORLA Mid-Section is designed for the 2017 Ford Raptor 3.5L EcoBoost with either automatic or manual transmission, in two- or four-wheel drive as well as Extend or Crew Cab with a short cargo bed.
