Ford’s Mustang is considered one of the preeminent muscle cars of the 1960s, and it has enjoyed a sustained position at the top of the muscle car pyramid ever since.

Six-cylinder models go way, way back to the origin of this magnificent machine and they’ve enjoyed a place alongside more famous V8 models from the first generation all the way up until 2017 when the V6 was officially discontinued.

We love V6 muscle cars here at Borla, and we offer stainless steel exhaust systems for the Ford Mustang from the S197 model, to the S550. Ford moved from the ultra-reliable 4.0L Cologne V6 to the much more powerful Cyclone 3.7L V6 when the S550 dropped in 2011 and wow, what a difference that motor made. Cyclone-powered Mustangs put down a stout 305 horsepower from the high-revving powerplant, making the V6 Mustang one fast machine with plenty of muscle car looks and character.

Regardless of which engine is in your Mustang, adding in a Borla exhaust system will instantly bring out the pops, burbles, and exhaust cracks you expect from a proper muscle car.

Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems For The Ford Mustang V6

V8-powered Mustangs usually get all the attention, but at Borla, we gave the Mustang V6 the attention it deserves.

Regardless of whether you have an S197 with the Cologne 4.0L V6 or the more powerful S550 with its Cyclone V6, Borla has engineered a series of stainless steel exhaust systems that are designed to provide that signature Borla sound. Better yet, we accomplish our “Sound Like Heaven” punch without the annoying highway drone normally associated with high-performance exhaust systems.

Choose Your Sound Level

Borla offers Ford Mustang V6 high-grade stainless steel exhaust systems for both S197 and S550 Mustangs (2005 to 2017). We offer three unique sound profiles that instantly transform the Ford Mustang V6 into a proper performance machine that will get noticed wherever you may roam:

Touring: Powerful, deep sound that resonates with muscle car bravado. This sound is 100% Borla and offers owners a classic howl that only sounds better as the tach climbs.

S-Type: More character, with snaps, crackles, and burbles that make the Mustang V6 sound like a proper performance cat. Expect a raspy howl that really barks at higher RPM.

ATAK: Ripping, snarling, with all the overruns and burbles you expect from a Borla exhaust. If you’re looking for the maximum volume, ATAK is for you.

Borla offers two different exhaust systems types for the Ford Mustang V6: complete Cat-Back™ systems and a more affordable Axle-Back configuration. Let’s talk about the differences so you can find the system that’s best for your ride.

Cat-Back™ and Axle-Back Exhaust Systems For Mustang V6

Depending on your year, Borla offers both Axle-Back and iconic Cat-Back™ exhaust systems for Mustang V6 Models.

Borla invented the Cat-Back™ exhaust system over 43 years ago, and it remains our signature offering for Ford Mustang V6 owners that want the maximum sound and fury from their V6 muscle car. Cat-Back™ systems replace everything from the catalytic converters, back to the rear of the vehicle so everything stays street legal. These systems offer that classic Borla tone and remain Borla’s most premium option.

Axle-Back systems still offer American-made, premium T-304 stainless steel construction but stop short of replacing everything from the catalytic converter back. Instead, these systems replace the muffler, some piping, and the exhaust tips themselves. These systems still offer that ripping Borla sound, but come at a more affordable price point.

Our systems include giant, 4.5” polished tips so you can look damn good, and show the world that you’re packing Borla sound.

The Borla Difference

Our company was built on the principles of sound, and we’ve worked for over 40 years to bring you the finest Ford Mustang V6 exhaust systems on the market. We construct every Borla exhaust system from high-quality T-304 stainless steel for the ultimate durability. How confident are we that our system will go the distance? How about a Million Mile warranty. Our American-made systems also incorporate smooth mandrel bends that offer optimum flow to produce that characteristic Borla rumble.

You may want that big Ford V6 to scream when you stand on the accelerator, but maybe not so much on a long highway drive or on the daily commute. To help eliminate annoying drone, Borla offers our exclusive No Drone™ technology that eliminates annoying highway drone, while still giving you the sound you’ve come to expect from Borla when you slam that accelerator pedal to the floor.
