Depending on which Mustang GT you own (we offer Ford Mustang GT exhaust systems for 1987-current Mustangs), Borla Ford Mustang GT exhaust systems offer three different sound levels to dial in just the right amount of thunder and noise:
- Touring: Traditional muscle car sound that offers a proper burble at idle, and a deep, roaring soundtrack as engine speeds climb.
- S-Type: Full racing howl with more sound, and more fury from the Ford Mustang GT's all-American V-8 powerplant.
- ATAK: Furiously aggressive with a ripping sound that ricochets off buildings and assaults your ears with a forceful, yet well-tuned V-8 sound.

In addition to three different sound levels, Borla also offers two different exhaust system configurations to suit the needs of Ford Mustang GT owners: Cat-Back™ and Axle-Back.

Cat-Back™ and Axle-Back Exhaust Systems For Ford Mustang GT
Our Ford Mustang GT exhaust systems are offered in 2 different configurations: Cat-Back and Axle-Back.
Simply put, no one knows Cat-Back systems like Borla because we invented the concept of the Cat-Back system over 43 years ago. Cat-Back exhaust systems replace all the components in your stock Mustang GT exhaust from behind the catalytic converters back to the exhaust tips. Cat-Back exhaust systems retain the factory catalytic converters and keep your vehicle street-legal.
Axle-Back systems stop short of replacing everything from behind the cats to the tips and instead replace the mufflers, some rear piping, and the tips themselves. This option gives you most of that spine-tingling Borla Cat-Back sound but at a more affordable cost.
Whether you choose a Cat-Back or Axle-Back system, the muscle car fanatics at Borla have specifically engineered our systems to work with the unique harmonics of Ford Mustang GT V-8 engines from the Fox-body 5.0, all the way up to the modern Coyote V-8 found in the latest generation of Mustang GT. Every system we build is honed from ultra-premium T-304 stainless steel, with ultra-smooth mandrel bends to ensure optimum flow.

Borla SwitchFire™
Borla has always been known for pushing the envelope of innovation. One of the latest products to come from the Borla sound labs is the incredible Borla SwitchFire X-Pipe for the S550 Mustang GT.
When Ford introduced the Coyote V-8 for the Mustang GT, the automotive industry collectively dropped its jaws. Gone was the old-school tech found in previous Mustang GTs, replaced by a thoroughly modern engine with engine technology like dual overhead camshafts, variable valve timing, and lightweight engine internals. The result of this innovation is an engine that makes serious power, is a joy to modify, revs hard, and sounds incredible at the limit.
To capitalize on this unique engine, the Borla SwitchFire X-Pipe utilizes patented technology that eliminates the turbulent front resonator section of the stock exhaust and combines engine exhaust pulses from both banks for a stunning sound. The SwitchFire X-Pipe replaces the stock front resonator and clamps on to the stock exhaust system.
